Statement of Faith
Our founder owes his Dharma to the teachings of Great Master Xuan Hua
who articulated the following guidelines for cultivation:
Freezing to death, we do not scheme.
Starving to death, we do not beg.
Dying of poverty, we do not climb on conditions.
We accord with conditions, but do not change.
We do not change, and yet accord with conditions.
We adhere firmly to our Three Great Principles.
We renounce our lives to do the Buddha’s work.
We mold our destinies as our basic duty.
We rectify our lives to fulfill the Sangha’s role.
Within specifics, we understand the principles.
Within principles, we understand the specifics.
We carry out the pulse of the Patriarchs’ mind-transmission.
We constantly ask ourselves: Do I not fight?
We constantly ask ourselves: Am I not greedy?
We constantly ask ourselves: Do I not seek?
We constantly ask ourselves: Am I not selfish?
We constantly ask ourselves: Do I not pursue self-benefit?
We constantly ask ourselves: Do I not lie?
Do I always wear my precept sash?
These are the guiding principles of Lu Mountain Temple.
We resolve to maintain them!
